DJing began in 1989 under the
handle DJ Twist, for Metamorphosis Radio on WPSA-FM, Paul Smiths
New York. In 1990, after a stint in public radio (KACU-FM, Abilene
Texas) and work at a Top 40 commercial station playing "deep cuts"
as Brian Ford on the Friday night mix show (KORQ-FM), the transition into
nightclub DJing began as Ice-Nine at Abilene's Sound Factory. In
1993, during a residency at Ground Zero (Boulder Colorado), the
name again changed to a more permanent handle that continues up
through the present: E23. More contemporary mixes by E23 can be
heard on
RadioValve, or
Electronic Air, but collected here are
earlier experiments in Breakbeat, Ambient, Trance, Downtempo and
other illclectic sounds.
