Hologramophonic Universe e.p. is the compiled result of student exercises for computer-based electronic music composition, at the University of Denver, DMST3550, under the direction of Dr. Trace Reddell, 2003. The six selections explore various territory, from pure soundscape exercises utilizing found-sounds to highly sequenced collections of melody, rhythm and percussion - all electronically generated or manipulated. The 'seed' tracks emerged from peer file swaps: seed01 features sounds which came from the original mix exclusively, manipulated and sequenced into a completely new arrangement; seed02 is the remix of another student's seed01 remix, with additional original sounds implemented into the production; and seed03 is a second remix of the aforementioned track, with a myriad of new sounds added into the production. In each seed translation a new direction was taken, morphing the originating track into something it had previously not been, or had only hinted at being. For information relating to the genesis of the other tracks, please visit the cuts section of this site. On the downloads page you'll find mp3 versions of all the tracks - free for unrestricted downloading and swapping - as well as downloadable cover art designed for a standard jewel case. Please visit commtom and radiovalve for more information about and music by E23. Hologramophonic Universe e.p. is the first release in a new series to be featured on opho.info, coming soon. |
