The project Opho explores audio production and
synthesis via participation and probability. The goal is to attempt
new techniques which stretch beyond individual inspiration and which synthesizes
inherent potentials from existent work. The purpose is to move beyond
interacting with data as information and instead to integrate with data
in relationship, and to cultivate relationships between varying data parameters
in order to synthesize new forms. Opho’s participatory structure
invites the creativity of the many with the ambition to create a singular
product; however, the structure, or process, can be replicated by any
artist, with any creative ambition (music, writing, filmmaking, designing,
etc.) in order to align seemingly disparate elements into a unified record
serving as the apex of previously non-related forces. Thus, the process,
even if repeated again with identical initiating elements, will surely
yield permutational results, because these parameters only set forth guidelines
for developmental exploration. It is through this process that unexpected
meaning will be derived and previously unforeseen relationship arrived
at.
